This old bronze cloisonné censer from a temple collection features a hollow-out cover, dragon-ear handles, and phoenix decoration—bringing together several powerful symbols in one incense vessel. The phoenix represents renewal, grace, and harmonious blessing; the dragons at the ears add protective strength; and the openwork lid allows incense smoke to rise in soft, curling patterns.
Cloisonné enamel patterns wrap the body with color and texture, while the bronze structure and aged patina ground the piece in a sense of history. The hollowed cover is both decorative and functional, dispersing incense smoke while revealing glimpses of the burning charcoal or cone inside.
Set on a bed of sand or ash, the censer can be used with stick, cone, or charcoal-based incense (with careful supervision and appropriate heat-proof support). On an altar, console, or low table, it becomes a focal point that weaves scent, light, and symbolic guardianship into your Temple & Ritual arrangements.
