In the workshops of Kashmir, metal is treated like a canvas and color like a precious stone. This vintage footed bowl is a classic example of Naqashi work, the region’s celebrated tradition of hand-painted enamel on metal.

Over a metal base—likely brass or copper—artisans have laid a field of deep “royal” blue enamel. Across this night-sky ground, scrolling Arabesque tendrils and stylized blossoms unfurl in luminous gold, each petal and curve painted by hand. The bowl seems to glow from within, more like a piece of jewelry than a simple vessel.

Perfectly scaled for a console, coffee table, or entryway, it can cradle potpourri, hold keys and small treasures, or stand empty as a sculptural object. Its rich cobalt-and-gold palette is especially striking against neutral interiors, where it adds a note of quiet opulence and a whisper of Persian-influenced Kashmiri artistry.
