This handmade Japanese Sinobue flute brings the clear, singing voice of traditional festival and folk music into your home. Crafted from bamboo that has been aged for more than four years and air‑dried for over three, each flute is tuned by hand and finished with carefully sanded, varnished surfaces.
Available in 6, 7, or 8 hon keys (with 8 hon recommended for beginners), the sinobue offers a bright, expressive tone that can move from playful to hauntingly lyrical. The body features 8 holes—1 blow hole and 7 finger holes—shaped and refined to support stable intonation and comfortable finger placement. Round finger holes and a smooth, plain lacquer finish give the flute a clean, understated look that sits beautifully within Japandi and wabi‑sabi spaces.
Inside, a layer of red paint lines the air chamber, a traditional detail that supports tone and durability. Tight hand‑tied bindings help resist cracking, add grip, and provide a quiet visual accent without distracting from the natural bamboo grain.
Whether displayed on a shelf as a functional art object or played as part of your daily practice, this sinobue invites you to slow down, breathe deeply, and fill your home with a simple, resonant sound.
