This pair of 6" Kylin statues from the Tibetan Temple Collection brings the classical “fortune beast” and gate guardian into a refined, display-ready scale. Cast in old brass and gilded for warmth and emphasis, each Kylin stands poised and alert, with stylized mane, scales, and tail echoing traditional temple carvings.
Kylin (or Qilin) figures are widely regarded as auspicious protectors—beings that combine strength and benevolence. They are often placed near entrances, thresholds, and important spaces to invite prosperity while guarding against misfortune. As a matched pair, these statues can frame a doorway, console, shelf, or altar, subtly marking the boundary between outer busyness and inner calm.
The moderate height and narrow footprint make them easy to work into Japandi and wabi‑sabi interiors: placed symmetrically on either side of a central object, or offset in a looser, more contemporary arrangement. The aged brass and gilded highlights bring quiet richness without overwhelming a neutral palette.

Placement & care
Traditionally placed as “gate gods” near doors, stair landings, or entrances, they also sit beautifully on consoles, sideboards, or altar tables. Position facing outward or slightly turned toward the center of the space. Dust gently with a soft, dry cloth; avoid harsh cleaners that could disturb the gilded finish or patina.
