This small bronze cloisonné snuff bottle comes from a Tibetan temple collection and is decorated with bat motifs symbolizing the “Five Blessings” (long life, wealth, health, virtue, and a peaceful end). In Chinese tradition, bats are auspicious animals—the word for “bat” (fu) echoing the word for “good fortune.”

The bottle’s rounded form is wrapped in colorful cloisonné enamel, with fine metal lines tracing out bats and cloud-like patterns. Bronze shows softly at the edges, giving the piece a time-worn, handled feel. Once used to hold snuff or fragrant powders, it now lives comfortably as a small amulet object on desks, shelves, and altar tables.

Place it beside a pen holder, on a tray with other scholar’s objects, or within a Temple & Ritual vignette. Its scale invites close inspection, while its symbolism quietly reinforces the idea of a well-blessed life and workspace.
